I visited the Gwinnett Environmental and Heritage Center today on a field trip, and I must say that it was the most educational experience! The trails we walked were beautiful, and our tour guide, Ms. Lisa was the absolute best! Everyone was knowledgeable and friendly, the facilities were all very clean. I highly recommend visiting, especially if you have elementary and middle school age children. I will definitely be back!
Weather has been so lovely so I took my babe here for a morning stroll. We only walked around the trails, it was pretty and relaxing. Did not go inside the building. It’s free to enter so that’s awesome.
The trail head of Ivy Creek Greenway is not clearly marked, but All Trails lists the trail. The heritage center did not seem open and so I just walked the Greenway.
This environmental center is a must take for kids. We took our grandbaby this past weekend and he had so much fun. The exhibits showcased a lot of history for the area. The interactive area for kids was hours of fun.
We also had private tour of the reptile house. They had a lot of snakes, reptiles and turtles.
I have lived in Gwinnett for 19 years & was unaware of this place. We came here on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30 PM. Plenty of parking. We went into the center & were immediately greeted by the friendliest staff. A wonderful, free weekend activity for the family. The kids area kept my 8 yr old & 18 month old occupied for hours and they could have stayed way longer. So educational & fun. We went for a walk along the trail. We saw the historic house on the property and the kids treetop course. The grounds were beautiful with fish & turtles throughout the ponds. The staff educated us on the kid’s activities, made us aware of the educational movie that they were showing & took us to the reptile room. We were pleasantly surprised about all they had to offer and spent a couple hours here. I am continually amazed at what Gwinnett County has to offer!
We attended by nephew's wedding at theG winnett Environmental and Heritage Center. It was a beautiful location that was surprisingly appropriate for our wedding event.
There's greenery everywhere, beautiful natural ponds throughout, and a friendly helpful staff to go along with the numerous rooms and open space for our special event.
If you are thinking of a venue for your special event, consider our first-hand positive experience.
This was a fun free place to visit with my young girls. There were some aquarium turtles, fish, small life in the tanks. The kids section was fun. My 1 year just liked walking around but my 4 year old had fun with all the interactive activities. The staff was so friendly. They also had a bug section displaying bugs/pests.
Definitely worth the experience. Educational and fun family trip for young children and teens.
